Amanda Carr, LMT
Amanda is the passion behind, and the owner of, Beyond the Sun Therapy. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies in 1998 from Indiana University. Amanda has spent her entire professional career in the realm of adoption. Her work has evolved in many ways, and she is continuing to grow and learn. Her work in adoption has inspired her passion to treat the trauma that can be stored in our bodies. After almost three decades as a social worker, Amanda sought out a body therapist that used craniosacral therapy to help her process the side-by-side trauma she experienced working in the adoption industry from 1998-2025. Amanda graduated from the Indiana Wellness College and is a licensed Sports and Medical Massage Therapist. She has also studied at the world-renowned Upledger Institute learning the modality of Cranial Sacral Therapy.
Amanda approaches her clients in a holistic and compassionate manner as she believes that anyone living with trauma, PTSD, hypervigilance, or anxiety needs a safe space to release that tension. Amanda’s career in adoption has given her a unique ability to truly listen to her clients and their goals for the overall health and function of their body.
In her free time, Amanda loves to spend time with her children truly watching them grow and learn. Amanda can be found biking on the local trails or enjoying the outside venues around the community. She has always enjoyed sports whether that is watching or being active. Amanda believes in showing her kids what an active lifestyle looks like, which has included weightlifting, spinning, running, kayaking and finally yoga!
Katy Wagner, MA, ATR‑P, LMHCA
Katy is an adult adoptee and art psychotherapist who works with children, teens, adults, and families in and around the adoption constellation. She is especially interested in how identity, attachment, trauma, and chronic stress live in the nervous system and show up in behavior, relationships, and the stories people tell about themselves.
Katy completed her undergraduate studies in Pre‑Art Therapy at the University of Indianapolis and earned her Master’s in Art Therapy from the Herron School of Art + Design at Indiana University Indianapolis. She has over two decades of experience supporting adoption search, contact, and reunion, and facilitating therapeutic creative processes in homes, schools, clinics, museums, community programs, and nature‑based settings with people of diverse abilities, communication styles, and medical or developmental complexity.
In sessions, Katy integrates talk therapy, nervous‑system‑aware regulation work, and the creative process to help people make sense of what they feel and how their bodies respond to stress. She is trauma‑informed, adoption‑competent, and neuro‑affirming, and she centers safety, collaboration, and pacing; there is no requirement to engage in creative work or “go deep” before the relationship and nervous system are ready.
As President of the Indiana Art Therapy Association (2026-28), Katy advocates for art therapy legislation, visibility, and access in Indiana and supports other clinicians in integrating creative and nervous‑system‑aware approaches into their work. Outside of the therapy studio, she is a mixed‑media artist and musician who loves time in nature, traveling, and exploring life.
